Elements & the Periodic Table

TermDefinition
Element A substance that cannot be broken down into smaller parts and is made up of one type of atom.
Chemical Symbols An abbreviation for an element which is represented by letters, such as Hg for Mercury.
Density Amount of matter in a given volume.
Calculate Using math to determine an answer.
Volume The amount of space an object takes up.
Matter Anything that has matter and takes up space.
Mass A measure of the amount of matter in an object.
