What is reproduction? Production of offspring asexually or sexually
What is mitosis? The process of cell division. Nucleus divides into 2 nuclei
Functions of mitosis? Growth and repair of the cell
What is meiosis? cell division, produces sex cells with half the number of chromosomes
Asuexual reproduction - How many parents? Genetic comparison to parent(s)? Type of cell division? Examples? One Parent. Exact copy. Mitosis. Budding
Sexual reproduction- How many parents? Genetic comparison to parent(s)? Type of cell division? Examples? Two parents. Different than parents similar traits. Meiosis. Pollination.
What happens to chromosome numbers in reproductive cells? Divides into 23 unpaired chromosomes
What is fertilization? When sperm and egg meet
What is zygote? Result of sperm and egg meeting
Role of a flower Reproduce
What is the male part of a flower called? What are the parts? Stamen. Anther and filament
What is the female part of a flower called? What are the parts? Pistil. Ovary, stigma, and style.
Where does pollination and fertilization happen in a flower (two different places)? Ovary and stigma
