Topic 3 Human Body Systems Lesson 2 Systems Interacting

QuestionAnswer
Which systems work together to aid in movement? the Skeletal System, Muscular System and Nervous System
How do the Skeletal System, Muscular System and Nervous System aid in movement? muscles attach to bones to move them; the nervous system controls when and how your muscles act on the bones
Which systems control body functions? the Nervous System and Endocrine System
How do the Nervous System and Endocrine System control body functions? the nervous system uses electrical signals and the endocrine system uses chemical signals (hormones) to control body processes
What is the function of blood vessels? they carry oxygen, nutrients, carbon dioxide an waste to and from every cell of the body
How do the Circulatory and Respiratory Systems work together? blood interacts with the lungs to pick up oxygen and release carbon dioxide
How do the Circulatory and Digestive Systems work together? the small intestines send nutrients into the bloodstream
How do the Circulatory System and kidneys work together? blood passes through the kidneys to be filtered
How to stimulus and response work together? senses allow you to react to changes in the environment
How do the Nervous and Digestive Systems work together? they release saliva when food is observed
What is the function of the Endocrine System? chemicals are released from the endocrine glands to control body processes
How do hormones interact with the Excretory and Circulatory Systems? to control the amount of water in the bloodstream
How do hormones interact with the Digestive and Circulatory Systems? to control the amount of sugar in the blood
What is homeostasis? it is the maintaining of a stable internal environment when the outside environment changes
How does your body regulate temperature? the nervous system sends signals to the skin and muscles to produce goosebumps when it is cold; the nervous system sends signals to sweat glands to release sweat when it is hot
How does your body keep balance? a structure in the inner ear senses your position; information is sent to your brain; the brian sends information to muscles to keep you steady
How does your body meet its energy needs? hormones from the Endocrine System signal the Nervous System to make you feel hungry
How does your body maintain water balance? if cells need more water, the Nervous System causes you to feel thirsty; signals are sent to the muscles and Skeletal
