Explain Nucleic Acids as a chemical of life. What do they do? DNA; They provide instructions to carry out the functions of life
Explain growth and development. What does it mean to grow/what does it mean to develop? To become larger; organisms make more cells To change
What is a stimulus? A change or signal in the environment that can make an organism react in some way
What is a response? An action or a change in behavior
What is Asexual reproduction? It creates identical offspring to one parent
What is Sexual reproduction? It creates offspring with a combination of DNA from two parents
What do producers do? They make their own food
What do consumers do? They eat their food
Name the 4 Needs of Life. Water; food; space; homeostasis
What is an Autotroph? A self-feeder (producer)
What is a Heterotroph? feeds on others (consumers; decomposers)
Explain water as a Need of Living Things. cells need water; substances dissolve in water and are transported easily
Explain space as a Need of Living Things. Must have food and water in living space; the competition for survival exists in this space
Explain homeostsis as a Need of Living Things. It means to maintain a stable internal environment; there are many methods of maintaining a stable internal environment
