Reproduction | the process by which organisms make more of their own kind |
artificial selection | human intervention in the form of selective breeding |
Chromosomes | threadlike structures made of DNA molecules that contain the genes |
sexual | A reproductive process that involves two parents that combine their genetic material to produce a new organism, which differs from both parents |
selective breeding | the human practice of breeding animals or plants that have certain desired traits |
Allele | Different forms of a gene |
Mutation | A change in a gene or chromosome. |
Phenotype | An organism's physical appearance, or visible traits. |
Genotype | genetic makeup of an organism |

Community | All the different populations that live together in an area |
Nucleus | Control center of the cell |
Nucleolus | Makes ribosomes |
Vesicle | Small membrane-bound sac that functions in moving products into, out of, and within a cell. |
Mitochondrion | bean-shaped organelle that supplies energy to the cell and has its own ribosomes and DNA. |
Organelle | A tiny cell structure that carries out a specific function within the cell |
Golgi Body (Apparatus) | Processes proteins and transports them |
Eukaryote | organism whose cells contain a nucleus |
Prokaryote | unicellular organism that lacks a nucleus |
Mitosis | division of the nucleus |
Meoisis | The process in which one sex cell divides into four new sex cells. |
