| Describe what the round head screw is used for | fixing materials together. Countersunk holes are not used. Nice if made out of Brass. |
| Describe what the flat head screw is used for | For general wood working. E.g. hinges on doors. Tightened flush to material. First a countersunk hole + pilot hole is drilled through the materials. |
| What are the different types of slots? | 1. Slotted 2. Pozi drive 3. Phillips |
| Self tapping screws | Self tapping screws (i.e that need no pilot hole) have a screw thread that runs into the head. |
| Nails | Available in a huge range of sizes and with different shapes of head and pin. |
| Panel Pins | Small and easy to hammer in. |
| Dovetail nailing | Increases strength because the nails are hammered in a dovetail joint style shape way. |
| Oval nails | Are for larger jobs. |
| Clout nails | They have a large flat head and are galvenised. |
