Elements of Music
| Term | Definition |

| Rhythm | Combination or patterns of sounds and silences of varying lengths. |
| Pitch | The high or low tone or sound of a note in music. |
| Melody | The tune of the music. A collection of pitches or tones. |
| Tempo | The speed of the music, fast or slow or in between. |
| Dynamics | The volume of the music. Degrees of loud, soft, and accents. |
| Form | The overall organization or structure of a piece of music. How the multiple parts fit together. |
| Timbre (tam-bur) | Also called tone color. The identifying sound of an instrument or voice. |
| Harmony | The texture of the music. Thick or thin multiple layers of music happening at the same time. |
| Genre | Category of music characterized by a distinctive style, form, or content, such as jazz, march, and country. |
