TermDefinition
Allele A version, or form of a gene. Like a flavor.
dominant Dominant allele are represented by a capital letters, and only show up if present
Recessive A recessive allele are represented by lower case letters and only shows up if there is no dominant allele
Homozygous Having two identical alleles of a particular gene or genes.
Heterozygous Having two different alleles of a particular gene or genes.
Genotype The genetic make up of an individual organism.
Phenotype physical appearance or traits, an organism has.
Purebred Another term for homozygous. The result of many generations of breeding only homozygous organism together.
Hybrid The offspring of two plants or animals that are genetically different
Punnetsquare A tool for predicting the probability of genotypes and phenotypes of offspring
