The Rock Cycle
| Term | Definition |

| Weathering | Wearing down of rocks by natural forces |
| Igneous | Type of rock formed from cooling magma. Can be smooth and made of large crystals |
| Metamorphic | Type of rock formed by high heat and/or pressure of the earth, and can have bands of rocks and colors pressed together |
| Sedimentary | Type of rock made from tiny rock pieces that are cemented together, can contain fossils |
| Fossils | Remains or impressions of prehistoric organisms in rock |
| Rocks | Can be made of minerals and fossils, and might contain many different types of minerals |
| Diamond | Can be made of minerals and fossils, and might contain many different types of minerals |
| Erosion | The process by which wind, water, ice, or gravity transports soil and sediment from one location to another |
| Weathering and erosion | How sediment is made |
| Cooling | How igneous rock is formed |
| Compaction and cementation | How sedimentary rock is formed |
| Heat and pressure | How metamorphic rock is formed |
