density How heavy the mineral is compared to the surrounding material
flourescence some minerals "glow" under ultraviolet light
optical properties some minerals present unusual visual displays when things are seen through them
taste some minerals have a specific flavor
magnetism some minerals attract iron
radioactivity some minerals contain uranium or radium and are radioactive
