| magnetosphere | outer region of the earth's ionosphere, where the earth's magnetic field controls the motion of charged particles |
| atmosphere | Earth's outermost layer of gases |
| hydrosphere | Earth's water made up of salt water, fresh water, and ice |
| core | dense metallic center of Earth |
| mantle | thick middle layer of the Earth |
| sphere | object shaped like a ball with all points equidistant from the center |
| geosphere | Earth's entire solid body and it's largest system |
| biosphere | contains all of Earth's living organisms |
| density | mass per unit volume; D = m/v |
| crust | thin, brittle outer rocky surface layer of Earth |
| lithosphere | solid and rigid outer layer of Earth that includes the crust and upper mantle |
