| Luster | Shiny; the way an object reflects light. |
| Magnetism | ability to attract iron. |
| Malleability | The ability to be pounded into a thin sheet. |
| Metals | Good conductors of heat and electricity. Shiny (luster), malleable, ductile, |
| Nonmetals | Poor conductors of heat and electricity. Dull and brittle. |
| Metalloids | Semiconductors (can sometimes conduct heat and electricity). |
