Intro to Science

Variables

TermDefinition
Independent Variable The variable that is deliberately changed to see what effects it has on the dependant variable
Dependant Variable the variable that is measured in an experiment as a consequence of changing the independent variable
Controlled Variable Variable that are deliberately kept the same for each trial so they don't interfere with the outcome of the dependant variable
Fair Test A test that involves only one variable (independent) to measure the dependant variable and all other variables are controlled so a clear conclusion may be formed
