| Crystallization | The formation of mineral grains from cooling magma. |
| Erosion | The transport of weathered materials and sediments by water, wind, ice, or gravity. |
| Igeneous rock | A rock formed by cooled molten magma or lava. |
| Metamorphic rock | A solid state change in an existing rock due to high temperature and/or pressure that creates a metamorphic rock. |
| Precipitate | Solid substance that separates out of liquid to form a solid, usually when the liquid evaporates. |
| Rock Cycle | The never-ending cycle in which one rock types changes into another rock type. |
| Sediment | Broken pieces of rock, shells, or minerals. |
| Sedimentary rock | A rock that forms from the compaction and cementation of sediments. |
| Weathering | The breakdown of rocks, soils, or minerals on Earth's surface. |
| Erosion | The process of carrying away sediments to a new location. |
| Deposition | The process of dropping off sediments at their new location. |
| Compaction | Squeezing the rock so it is under pressure. |
| Cementation | Particles of sediment stick together. |
