| Force | A push or pull that can change the motion of an object |
| Balanced forces | separate forces on an object that combined do not change the movement of the object |
| unbalanced forces | Forces on an object that cause change in the motion o the object |
| net force | the sum of all the forces acting on an object |
| at rest | the state of an object when its not in motion |
| motion | the change in an objects position with respect to time and in comparison to the position of other objects used as reference points |
| speed | the rate is measured are expressed as distance per time |
| Direction | a straight path that an object can move along |
| friction | force that opposes the motion of one surface across another |
| frame or referance | a system that uses axes or background objects to measure the position or movement of an object |
| velocity | measurement of speed and direction of an object |
| acceleration | the rate of change in an objects speed |
