| ocean | the largest body of water on planet earth; 70% of our earth is covered with water. |
| solar energy | energy we get from the sun |
| erupt | when a volcano becomes active and shoots out ash and lava |
| renewable resource | resource that CAN be replaced in a lifetime; trees, sun, animals, soil, water. |
| earthquake | shaking of the ground triggered by the movement of earth's tectonic plates |
| volcano | when thick magma and large amounts of gas build up under the surface of the earth and erupt out |
| landslide | gravity or lots of water pulls rocks, soil, and mud down the mountain side causing destruction |
| tsunami | a giant destructive wave that floods the land; the result of earthquakes in the ocean |
| rapid changes to earth | fast changes; volcanic eruption, forest fires, hurricane, flood, landslide, earthquake etc. |
| gravel | smaller stones or pebble or rock; no water held |
