Unit 8 Human Body

Heart organ that pumps blood throughout the body
Artery blood vessel that carries blood AWAY from the heart
Vein blood vessel that carries blood BACK TO the heart
Aorta The largest artery in the body
Blood carries oxygen and carbon dioxide through the body
Atria the receiving chambers of the heart
Ventricle the chamber that pumps blood out of the heart
Capillary the smallest kind of blood vessel
Red Blood Cells carries oxygen to parts of the body
White Blood Cells protects the body against foreign substances
