| Term | Definition |

| Battery | a container consisting of one or more cells, in which chemical energy is converted into electricity and used as a source of power. |
| circuit | a path between two or more points along which an electrical current can be carried. |
| open circuit | an electrical circuit that is not complete. |
| conductor | an object or type of material that allows the flow of an electrical current in one or more directions. |
| transformer | an apparatus for reducing or increasing the voltage of an alternating current. |
| voltage | an electromotive force or potential difference expressed in volts. |
| kilowatt | a measure of 1,000 watts of electrical power. |
| static | two objects that are not good electrical conductors are rubbed together, and electrons from one of the objects rub off onto the other. |
