Space Cycles: Lunar Cycle & Earth's Movements

Waxing To increase gradually in size.
Waning To decrease gradually in size.
Rotation The spin of an object on its axis.
Revolution The orbit or movement of one object around another.
Axis An imaginary line through the middle of an object.
Hemisphere One half of a sphere, such as one half of the Earth.
Spring Tide The high and low tides that occur twice a month, at the New Moon and Full Moon phases.
Neap tide The least extreme type of tides that occur twice a month, during the First and Last Quarter Moon phases.
High Tide A tide that has the highest levels of water and is occurs in areas of the Earth that are either facing the moon or directly opposite the moon.
Low Tide A tide that has the lowest level of water and occurs on the areas of the Earth where the Moon is perpendicular to the Earth.
Lunar Of or relating to the moon.
