Earth's Slow Changes

| Weathering | The process by which rocks are broken down into smaller pieces or sediments |
| Oil/Natural Gas | Formed from tiny sea organisms that are changed by heat and pressure |
| Coal | Formed from layers of dead swamp plants that are changed by heat and pressure |
| Sedimentary Rocks | Rocks that form when layers and rock particles setting on top of each other |
| Cementation | hardening of sediments into rocks by pressure |
| Compaction | Sediments that are pressed or squeezed together because of pressure |
| Deposition | The process of laying down (dropping) of sediments and materials |
| Erosion | The movement of sediment and materials away from a place |
| U Shaped Valley | A valley with a characteristic of a U shape formed by a glacier |
| Canyon | A valley between steep cliff sides formed by running water such as a river or stream |
| Sand Dune | A hill of sand created by wind |
| Delta | Soil deposited at the mouth of a river usually triangular in shape |
| Landforms | a physical feature of earth's surface |
| Glacier | A large mass of slowly moving ice and snow that carves new features and deposits sediments |
| Sediments | Small particles of rock, soil, sand or shell deposited by water win or ice |
| V-shape Valley | a valley with a characteristic of a v shape formed by moving water |
| Frost Wedging | Weathering rock fills with water, freezes and expands causing the rock to crack into pieces |
| Moraine | A mass of rocks and sediment carried down and deposited by a glacier typically as ridges on its sides |
| Rock Arch | A natural rock formation where an arch has formed with an opening underneath |
| Sea Arch | A natural opening eroded out of a cliff by waves |
| Mesa | An isolated flat topped hill with steep sides |
| Gorge | A narrow valley between hills or mountains, steep with a stream running through it. |
