AN SCÉAL ROBÁIL

GaeilgeBéarla
Lá breá samhraidh a bhí ann It was a fine summer’s day
Oíche bhreá samhraidh a bhí ann It was a fine summer’s night
Chaith mé an lá ag siopadóireacht I spent the day shopping
I lár na cathrach In the city centre
Bhíomar ag siúl síos an bóthar We were walking down the road
Go tobann Suddenly
Chualamar dhá phléasc We heard two explosions
Chualamar fearais tógála timpeall an chúinne We heard building equipment around the corner.
Cúpla soicind ina dhiaidh sin A few seconds later
Rith beirt fhear amach as dorais an bhainc Two men ran out of the doors of the bank
Bhí gunna láimhe ag duine acu One of them had a handgun
Bhí raidhfil ag an bhfear eile The other man had a rifle
Bhí mo chroí i mo bhéal le heagla My heart was in my mouth with fear
Chuamar i bhfolach taobh thiar de charr We hid behind a car
Tháinig na Gardaí ar an suíomh The Guards arrived on the scene
Scaoil na gadaithe urchair ar na Gardaí The thieves shot at the Guards
Scaoil na Gardaí urchair ar ais The Guards shot back
Bhuail urchar duine de na gadaithe A bullet hit one of the thieves
Leag siad a ngunnaí síos They put down their guns
Ghabh na Gardaí ar na gadaithe The Guards arrested the thieves
Chuir na Gardaí na coirpigh sa veain agus thug siad iad go dtí an stáisiún The Guards put the criminals in the van and took them to the station
Bhí bean ag fanacht i BMW ar an taobh eile den sráid There was a woman waiting in a BMW on the other side of the street
Rith na gadaithe trasna an bhóthair The thieves ran across the road
Léim siad isteach sa charr They jumped into the car
D'éalaigh siad ar luas lasrach síos an bóthar They escaped as fast as lightning down the road
Tháinig na Gardaí ar an suíomh ró-dhéanach The Guards arrived on the scene too late
Ghoid na gadaithe fiche míle Euró an lá sin The thieves stole twenty-thousand Euro that day
D'insíomar an scéal go léir do na Gardaí We told the entire story to the Guards
Baineadh geit cheart asam an lá sin! I got a proper fright that day!
Mar a deir an seanfhocal; filleann an feall ar an bhfeallaire! As the saying goes: what goes around, comes around!
Ní dhéanfaidh mé dearmad ar an lá sin go deo I will never forget that day
