Mutualism Is when two organisms benifit from association.
Example of mutualism Flowers spread their pollen by bees eating it and spreading it from one to another causing flowers to reproduce.
Parasitism A relationship between organisms were one lives as a parasite on another.
Example of parasitism A whale with barnicles living on it.
Commensalism Organisms who occupy the same space at the same time.
Example of commensalism On a tree birds and insects occupying the same space at the same time
Symbiosis Two unsimiliar oraganisms who live together.
Example of symbiosis A bird living in a bee hive with bees.
Competition A act of competing between at least two organisms for something.
Example of competition Two birds competeing for a worm to eat.
Predation The relation between animals when one organism captures and feeds on others.
Example of Predation A fox captures a small animal and feeds on it.
Prey A animal that is captured and is eatened.
Example of a prey A caterpillar is captured by a bird and is eatened
Predator A organism that hunts for food and eats its prey
Example of a predator A wolf hunts for small animals and eats it
Trophic level any class of organisms that occupy the same position in a food chain. As primary consumers, secondary consumers, and tertiary consumers.
Example of trophic level Grass->Rabbits->Snakes->Eagles
10% rule only 10% of a organism is transfered to another the other 90% is transfered by heat
Example of the 10% rule a orgainsm eats another one and only gets 10% of its energy while the other is transfered by heat.
Energy pyramid The amount of energy in each trophic level of an ecosystem.
Example of energy pyramid Grass->Rabbits->Snake->Owl
