Safety Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Hard Hat a rigid protective helmet, as worn by factory and building workers.
Ear Plugs to protect the user's ears from loud noises or the intrusion of water, foreign bodies, dust or excessive wind.
Respirator to protect the wearer from inhaling particulate matter, including airborne microorganisms, fumes, vapours and gases.
Vest a sleeveless garment for the upper body usually worn over a shirt.
Fire Retardant Jacket flame-resistant clothing that is designed to be worn during activities where the wearer will constantly be exposed to flames, radiant heat and potential molten substance splash.
Face Shield to protect wearer's entire face from impact hazard such as flying objects and road debris, chemical splashes, or potentially infectious fluid.
Safety Glasses to protect the eyes from any type of foreign debris that may cause irritation or injury.
Coveralls a piece of clothing that covers both the upper and lower parts of the body and is worn especially over other clothes to protect them. Protective clothing.
Cut Resistant Gloves to protect the wearer's hands from cuts while working with sharp tools.
Sleeves a tube of material that is put into a cylindrical bore
Dust Mask a flexible pad held over the nose and mouth by elastic or rubber straps to protect against dusts encountered during construction or cleaning activities
Nomex Hood made into the form of a paper sheet or board, is a superb insulating material for all kinds of electrical equipment, from motors and generators to transformers and other electrical equipment
Steel Toe Shoes is a durable boot or shoe that has a protective reinforcement in the toe which protects the foot from falling objects or compression
