Planets and solar system

QuestionAnswer
Axis An imaginary line running through the center of Earth from the North pole to the south pole
Rotation The turning of an object on an axis
Revolution The movement of one object in an orbit around another object
Eclipse An event that occurs when one object passes into the shadow of another object
Tides They are the regular rising and falling of the oceans surface caused mostly by the moon's gravitational pull pull on earths oceans
New Moon The phase of the moon in which only a dim outline of it's shape is visible
First Quarter Moon The phase of the moon when it is one quarter of the way through its orbit and we see half of the moon lighted
Full Moon The phase of the moon in which we see the entire moon lighted and it appears bright and round.
Third Quarter Moon The phase of the moon when it is three quarters of the way through its orbit and we see half of the moon lighted.
Asteroid A piece of rock and metal that orbits the sun
Sattellite A body in space that orbits a larger body.
Meteor A piece of rock that is smaller than asteroid that enters earth's atmosphere and burns up
Comet A ball of ice, rock and frozen gases that orbit the sun.
Galaxy A huge system of stars.
