TermDefinition
Matter Anything that has mass and volume
Volume The amount of space an object takes up
Graduated Cylinder A scientific tool used to measure the Volume of liquids and irregular shaped objects
Displacement Method The process used to determine the volume of an irregular shaped object by measuring the amount of water displaced (moved)
Metric Ruler Scientific tool used to measure distance between two points
Mass The amount of matter in an object
Triple Beam Balance Scientific tool used to measure mass
Density The amount of matter packed in a specific volume of space
Solid A type of matter in which the molecules move the slowest. The molecules vibrate.
Liquid A type of matter in which the molecules move in a slow/sliding motion
Gas A type of matter in which the molecules move the fastest
