The Hydrosphere

| Water Cycle | The continuous process by which water moves from Earth's surface to the atmosphere and back again |
| Evaporation | The process by which molecules at the surface of a liquid absorb enough energy to change to a gas |
| Transpiration | The process through which plants draw in water from soil through their roots and eventually give off water vapor through the leaves |
| Condensation | The process by which water vapor becomes liquid water |
| Precipitation | Water that forms in clouds and falls to Earth as rain, snow, hail, or sleet |
| Process | A series of actions or operations leading towards a particular result |
| Watershed | The land that supplies water to a river system |
| Aquifer | Layers of rock that hold water below the water table of the hydrosphere |
| Well | A hole sunk in the Earth to reach a supply of water |
