Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration

photosynthesis a process in plants where a cell captures light energy (sunlight) and changes it into chemical energy (food)
autotrophic makes its own food
producers produce glucose (plants are called this)
chloroplast green organelle that captures light from the sun
chlorophyll chemical that can absorb or trap light energy
raw materials materials used in photosynthesis (water, sunlight, carbon dioxide)
stomata pores on the bottom of leaves for gas exchange
products oxygen and sugar, produced during photosynthesis
cellular respiration process where cells obtain energy from sugar
ATP energy released in cellular respiration
aerobic in the presence of oxygen
anaerobic not in the presence of oxygen
fermentation an energy-releasing process that does not require oxygen
