Scientific Method

TermDefinition
Problem This is the question the scientist is trying to answer by doing the experiment.
Materials The tools and equipment you need for the experiment.
Hypothesis A scientist makes predictions about what he or she thinks can be the answer to a problem.
Observations This helps us gather information about objects or events using our five senses.
Data All of the facts, numbers, and words that provide us with information.
Results This can be a table, chart, diagram, or graph that tells us the observations or measurements from the experiment.
Procedure A description of the steps you will take during the experiment.
Conclusion The answer to your original problem or question in the experiment.
