Interphase The first stage of the cell cycle; the cell grows, copies DNA, and prepares to divide.
Mitosis The second stage of the cell cycle; where the nucleus actually divides, it has for phases (PMAT).
Cytokinesis The third stage of the cell cycle; where the cytoplasm is divided into two new daughter cells.
Replication The process that occurs during interphase where DNA is copied.
Chromosome This X shaped structure forms during interphase, once the chromatin condenses.
Chromatids These structures are the two halves that make up a chromosome. They are identical copies of DNA.
Prophase This is the first phase of mitosis; chromosomes condense, centrioles move to the poles, and spindle fibers form.
Metaphase This is the second phase of mitosis; the chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell.
Anaphase This is the third phase of mitosis; chromatids are pulled away from each other.
