Earth System all the matter, energy, and processes within Earth's boundary. Earth is a complex system made of smaller systems.
geosphere the mostly solid, rocky part of Earth. It extends from the center of Earth to the surface
hydrosphere the part of Earth that is liquid water. eg. oceans, lakes, rivers
cryosphere made up of all the frozen water on Earth. eg. ice, glaciers, permafrost
atmosphere made up of invisible gases that surround Earth
biosphere made up of living things and the areas of Earth where they are found
energy budget a way to keep track of energy transfers into and out of Earth's systems
