Hypothesis A possible explanation for a set of observations or answer to a scientific questoin-must be stated in if, then, because format.
Scientific Theory A well tested idea that explains a wide range of observations
Science A way of learning about the natural world and the knowledge gained through that process
Inference An interpretation of an observation according to the given evidence or background knowledge
Observation A technique involving the use of your senses, used to gather information and collect data
Independent Variable(Manipulated Variable) The variable that changes in order to test a hypothesis
Dependent Variable(Responding Variable) The factor that differs due to the independent Variable
Controlled Experiment An experiment where only one variable stays the same
Variables The factors that change in an experiment
Scientific Inquiry The different ways where scientists study the natural world
