Sedimentary rocks

Sedimentary rock vocab

QuestionAnswer
Bioclastic sedimentary rock made by living organisms or composed mostly of materials from life forms. Also called organic sedimentary rock.
Cementation minerals dissolved in water "glue" the sediment together
Chemical sedimentary rock rock made from material that was precipitated from water
Clastic sedimentary rock made of broken fragments of rock
Compaction sediments are squeezed together by the weight of the rock layers above
Deposition dropping of sediments. Occurs when agents of erosion(water, wind, glacier) can no longer carry the sediment.
Fossil remains, imprints, or traces of a living thing that lived long ago
Sediment loose particles created by the breakdown of rocks
Sedimentary rock rock formed from pieces of other rocks or the remains of once-living things
