What does species mean? A group of similar organisms that can mate and produce fertile offspring.
What does variations mean? Any difference between individuals of the same species.
What does natural selection mean? Process by which individuals that are better adapted to their environment are more likely to survive and reproduce than other members of the same species; over a long period of time natural selection can lead to evolution.
What does evolution mean? The gradual change in a species over time
What does adaptation mean? A trait that helps an organism survive and reproduce; slow process taking many generations to occur
What does scientific theory mean? A well-tested concept that explains a wide range of observations

Natural Selection A fast turtle enters a habitat. It will be able to survive and reproduce. Soon more turtles will have the fast trait.
