Sound Waves Vocabula

QuestionAnswer
Sound A disturbance that travels through a medium as a longitudinal wave
Vibration A repeated back-and-forth or up-and-down motion
Vocal Cords Folds of connective tissue that stretch across the opening of the larynx and produce a person's voice.
Eardrum Tightly stretched membrane located at the end of the ear canal that vibrates when struck by sound waves
Loudness A sensory characteristic of sound produced by the amplitude (intensity) of the sound wave
Pitch A tone's experienced highness or lowness; depends on frequency.
