Pediatric Emergency Numbers

Weight in kg = Pedi (1 year and above) 8 + (age in yrs X 2)
Weight in kg = Neonate (less than 1 month) 3 – 5kg
Weight in kg = Infant (up to 1 year) 6 – 9 kg
Blood Volume = 80 ml/kg
Blood Pressure (ages>10) = 90 + (age in yrs X2)
Blood Pressure (ages< 10) = 70 + (age in yrs X2)
Decompensated Shock Neonate (less than one month) = SBP <60
Decompensated Shock Infant (up to 1 year) = SBP <70
Decompensated Shock Child (1 - Adolescent) = SBP <70 + (age in yrs X 2)
Heart Rate (the younger, the faster) Neonate (< 1 month) = 140 (+/- ) 20
HR Infant (up to 1 year) 120 (+/- ) 20
HR Young Child (1-5 yrs) = 100 (+/- ) 20
HR Older Child (5-9 yrs) = 90 (+/- ) 10
HR Adolescent to Child = 80 (+/- ) 20
Normal Cap Refill = < 2 seconds
Urine Output = 1-2 ml/kg/hr
Respiratory Rate: Neonate (< 1 month) = 25-50 breaths per min
Respiratory Rate: Child (1-8 years) = 15-30 breaths per min
Respiratory Rate: Adolescent to adult 12-24 breaths per min
Normal Tidal Volume = 4-6 ml/kg
ET Tube Size = Age (yrs)/4+4 or (16 = age in years) /4
Depth of Insertion = Age (years) /2 + 12 or 3 X tube diameter
Cardioversion: 0.5 – 1.0 J/kg the 2.0 J/kg
Defibrilation: 2.0 J/kg then 4.0 J/kg
Replace Fluids if < 1 month 10 ml/kg IV bolus
Replace Fluids if > 1 month 20 ml/kg IV bolus
