TermDefinition
Tectonic Plates Big slabs of rock under the Earth floating on the mantle holding up the Earths continents.
Tremor A little Earthquake that shakes the ground.
Hypocentre The point in the crust where the earthquake starts also know as the focus.
Epicenter Right above the start of the earthquake were it starts.
Core The centre of the Earth is called core.
Crust The outside layer around the earth.
Mantle The middle layer of the Earth that is burning hot.
Fault line The edge were two Tectonic Plates meat.
Seismic waves The energy That a earth quake sends out.
after shock A little shock after the main Earthquake.
Liquefaction Is when water comes up because sand pushes water up.
seismograph measures the intensity of the earthquake.
Merallic scale measures the damage of a earthquake.
Molten Molten is lava that has not melted.
primary effects Is the effects caused by the earthquake.
secondary effects Are effects caused by the earthquakes effects.
compression Is when two tectonic plates push agents each other.
tension is when two tectonic plates pull apart from each other.
Shearing Is when two tectonic plates hit each others side.
