Heat Transfer

thermal energy Energy in the form of heat.
heat transfer The movement of heat from one place to another
equilibrium a state in which opposing forces or influences are balanced.
conduction the transfer of heat energy within an object, or between objects that are directly touching each other
convection the transfer of heat through a fluid or a gas
radiation the transfer of energy between two objects that are not touching; transfer of energy by electromagnetic waves. This form of heat transfer does not require matter or a medium to transfer energy.
thermal insulator something that prevents heat from moving from one place to another
thermal conductor a material that allows energy in the form of heat, to be transferred within the material, without any movement of the material itself.
electrical conductor allow electric current to flow easily because of the makeup of their atoms.
electrical insulator opposes the flow of electricity; their electrical charge does not flow freely. Electrical insulators are important to keep us safe from electricity.
