omnivore An animal that eats both plants and animals.
predator An animal that hunts other animals for food.
prey An animal that is hunted by another animal.
decomposer A consumer that breaks down other plants and animals and turns them into soil.
food chain The path that shows how energy is passed from one living things to another.
food web Food chains that overlap.
biotic factor any living part of an ecosystem
abiotic factor the nonliving part of an ecosystem
photosynthesis the process when plants use carbon dioxide, water and the sun to make their own food
reduce to use less of something
recycle to reuse something so that it can be turned into something that can be used again
