Range of Motion Exercises - Elbow
| Question | Answer |

| Step 1 | Knock before entering the room. Identify and greet resident. Explain procedure. Perform hand hygiene. Provide for privacy. Ask for consent. |
| Step 2 * | Raise bed rail. Raise the bed to the best level for good body mechanics. |
| Step 3 | Lower the side rail. |
| Step 4 | Position the resident supine and in good alignment. |
| Step 5 | Support the resident’s wrist with one hand and the elbow with the other. |
| Step 6 | Flexion: bend the arm so that the same-side shoulder is touched. |
| Step 7 | Extension: straighten the arm. |
| Step 8 | Repeat flexion and extension 5 to 6 times. Repeat at least 3x then say this step. |
| Step 9 * | Raise the side rail. |
| Step 10 | Go to the other side and lower the side rail. |
| Step 11 | Repeat steps for exercising the elbow. (may verbalize this step) |
| Step 12 | Make sure the resident is comfortable. |
| Step 13 * | Raise side rail. Lower bed. Lower side rail. Attach signal light within resident’s reach. |
| Step 14 | Perform hand hygiene and report & record observations. |
