What is mass? Mass is the amount of matter in an object
What is gravity? the result of mass, all objects experience attraction
What is Newton's first law of gravity? Inertia, which means an object at rest or in motion will stay at rest or in motion until acted upon by another force
What is revolution? The movement, or orbiting, completely around an object. In our case, the Earth revolves, or orbits, around the Sun. One full lap around = 1 calendar year.
Does gravity become stronger or weaker the farther the distance between objects? It becomes weaker as the distance increases.
What causes us to have seasons? The Earth's axis tilt
What causes us to have day and night? The Earth rotating on its axis.
What holds planets in orbit? Gravity
What does the galaxy revolve around? Universe
What revolves around a galaxy? Solar System (*The sun, a star, is part of the solar system.)
How often do tides occur? every 6 hours, low and high tides occur twice a day
What is the main cause of ocean tides? moon's gravity
What is rotation? The Earth spinning on its own axis. This gives us day and night.
