TermDefinition
Ecosystem A system of interacting organisms and non-living factors in a specific area.
organism Any living thing.
abiotic Non living.
biotic Living organisms and products of living organisms.
individual One single organism.
population All the individuals of one kind (or species) in a specific area at one time.
community All the interacting populations in a specific area.
detrimental Harmful.
limiting factors Any biotic or abiotic part of an ecosystem that controls the size of the population.
invasive species Organisms that are not native to an ecosystem that have a negative impact.
native species A species that normally lives and thrives in a particular ecosystem.
homeostasis The equilibrium or balance of the internal systems in an organism.
