TermDefinition
Position An objects position is its location point.
distance the amount of space between one point and another
displacement The method to find out the volume of water in a solid object.
speed The distance traveled per unit of time.
velocity The speed and direction of a moving object.
time A measurement used to record an action, or an amount of progress.
frequency The number of cycles a wave completes in a period of time. The number of times something happened.
law of conservation of energy A law that states energy can not be created or destroyed.
potential energy The energy that is stored
kinetic energy The energy of motion.
refraction Refraction is the bending of light as it passes from one transparent substance to another.
absorption a physical process in which a substance takes in a given amount of another substance
wavelength the distance between one peek and the next on a wave
gravity A force that exists between any two objects that have mass.
mass The amount of matter in an object.
weight The force of gravity on an object.
inertia An object's resistance to a change in motion
law of universal gravitation Universal gravitation is what pulls the moon towards the earth.
rotation Turning on an axis or spinning.
orbit The circular or elliptic path of an object as it revolves around another object.
seasons times in the year where weather or a different term
eclipses An event whereby one astronomical body passes between two other astronomical bodies
moon phases A cycle of the moon that is twenty-eight days long.
daylight savings daylight savings time is when you turn your clock ahead when its warmer weather.
homeostasis The ability to maintain a normal chemical balance though changing external conditions
food web A model showing different feeding relationships.
food chain A cycle of food for many living things.
energy pyramid A mobile that show the available amount of energy in each tropic layer in each layer.
photosynthesis the progress where plants and other organisims use the energy
