renewable resource any material or energy source that cycles, or can be replaced easily within a short time period.
solar energy radiant light and heat from the Sun that is harnessed using a range of ever-evolving technologies such as solar heating, photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar architecture, molten salt power plants and artificial photosynthesis.
biomass fuels organic materials produced in a renewable manner.
geothermal energy Geothermal energy is heat energy generated and stored in the Earth.
nonrenewable resources material or energy source that cannot be replaced easily or requires extremely long amounts of time to replace itself.
fossil fuels fuels such as natural gas, charcoal, peat, coal, and petroleum(oil) that release energy when burned
solar thermal system uses the sun's energy, rather than fossil fuels, to generate low-cost, environmentally friendly thermal energy.
photovoltaic system A photovoltaic system, also PV system or solar power system, is a power system designed to supply usable solar power by means of photovoltaics.
passive solar system the thermal mass (concrete, masonry, or water) is located directly behind the south-facing glass and in front of the heated indoor space and so there is no direct heating
conservation preservation, protection, or restoration of the natural environment, natural ecosystems, vegetation, and wildlife.
preservation the state of being preserved, especially to a specified degree.
