What is a combination reaction? Chemical reaction in which two or more substances combine to form a different substance.
What happens during an exothermic reaction? The reaction triggers the release of thermal energy.
What happens during an endothermic reaction? The reactions cause thermal energy to be absorbed and stored in the chemical bonds of the products.
How are coefficients used/involved in chemical equations? It shows how many molecules of a substance are present during the reaction.
What are products in relation to chemical reactions? The results of a chemical reaction.
Know the types of chemical reactions and definitions and/or what happens in each one combination? Two or more substances forming a different one.
Decomposition When a compound breaks down to from a different substance.
Single Displacement An element in a compound is replaced by another element, forming a different substance.
Double Displacement Two compounds exchange atoms ad ions.
How are catalysts used in a chemical reaction? They are used to affect the rate of a chemical reaction.
What does the law of conservation and mass state? That the total mass of the reactants must be equal to the total mass of the products.
What is a balanced equation? A chemical equation that has the same number each type of atom on either side of yield arrow.
What is a salt? Any ionic compound that doesn't contain H+ or OH-
How is the pH scale used by chemists? To show the relative acidity or basicity of substances.
