Animal classes, invertebrates and vertebrates

A vertebrate is... ...an animal WITH a spine or backbone
An invertebrate is... ...an animal WITHOUT a spine or backbone
Animal classes are... ...a series of different classes that different groups of animals are sorted into (e.g. birds, mammals, fish...)
A mammal is... ...a vertebrate, normally doesn’t lay eggs (but sometimes it does). It is also warm blooded and has skin that is covered by hair (fur)
A fish is... ...a vertebrate, mostly lays eggs (but sometimes doesn’t). It is cold blooded and also has scales.
A reptile is... ...a vertebrate. It ALWAYS lays eggs. It has scales and is cold blooded
An amphibian is... ...a vertebrate. It ALWAYS lays eggs. It had moist skin and is cold blooded
A bird is... ...a vertebrate. It ALWAYS lays eggs. It has fur and is warm blooded.
An insect/arthropod is... ...an invertebrate. It’s has chitin, is cold blooded and MOSTLY lays eggs (sometimes it doesn’t)
