| evaporation | water heats and and rises up into the air as water vapor |
| transpiration | when water is heated up and rises up into the air as water vapor from the leaves of plants |
| condensation | the cooling of evaporated water in the air that become clouds |
| precipitation | the falling of water to earth's surface as rain, snow, sleet, or hail after the water droplets have become too heavy in the cloud |
| runoff | the water on earth's surface that flows down hill or down stream to come together at a certain stop |
| infiltration | when water seeps into cracks and holes in the ground to become ground water |
| water cycle | the process by which water evaporated, condenses, precipitates, runs off, infiltrate, and accumulate. |
| accumulation | the gathering of water in stream, lakes, ponds, rivers, and ocean |
| sun's energy | the energy given off by the sun in form of heat |
