my work,power,and waves study stack

QuestionAnswer
What is a wave? Vibrations caused by a medium.
What is a medium? The material in which a wave can travel through(solid, liquid, gas).
Define a transverse wave. Its when particles move perpendicular to the direction the wave travels.
Whats is the CREST of a transverse wave? The high point of a wave.
What is the TROUGH of a transverse wave? The low point of a wave.
Define longitudinal wave. When the particles move back and forth in the way it travels.
Define compression. Something that is pushing or being pushed together.
Define rarefaction Something that is pulling or being pulled apart.
What is a mechanical wave? Its a wave that require a medium.
What is a electromagnetic wave? Its the vibrations of electric and magnetic fields.
Define amplitude. A measure of far particles move from the rest position.
What is wave length? The distance between each wave.
Define frequency. The number of waves that pass a point in a certain amount of time.
What is the measure of frequency? Hertz(Hz).
What is wave speed? The interaction of atomic particles.
Define power. The amount of work used in a certain amount of time. W(T)=P
Define work. The amount of force used in a distance. F(D)=W
Define force strength or energy as a attribute to the physical state of somthing.
360 newtons of force are needed to push a crate 9 meters, what is the work needed to push the crate? 40 joules
How much work is done holding a 15N snack for 5 minutes? 3 joules
a person uses 300 joules of work in 15 seconds. How much power did they use? 20w
To measure the wavelength of a transverse wave measure,_______to_______or_________to________. Crest to crest,or trough to trough.
To measure the wavelength of a longitudinal wave measure,______to______or,________to_________ compression to compression,or rarefaction to rarefaction.
A speaker is transmitting a loud and high pitch sound. What would the frequency and amplitude be? High amplitude and high frequency.
What is power measured by? Watts.
What is power measured by? Joules.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
