| Energy | Ability to cause changes in the motion or position of an object. |
| Kinetic Energy | Energy of motion and depends on an object's mass and speed. |
| Potential Energy | Stored energy |
| Gravitational Potential Energy | Stored energy between the object and Earth that depends on height and mass/ weight. |
| Elastic Potential Energy | Energy stored in objects that are compressed or stretched. |
| Chemical Potential Energy | Energy stored in the chemical bonds between atoms. |
| Work | The transfer of energy that occurs when a force is applied over a distance. |
| Mechanical Energy | The total kinetic and potential energy in a system. |
| Radiant Energy | The energy that electromagnetic waves carry (light). |
| Electric Energy | Energy an electric current carries. |
| Nuclear Energy | Energy stored and released in the nucleus of an atom. |
| Thermal Energy | Energy due to the motion of particles that make up an object (heat). |
| Sound Energy | Energy produced by vibrating objects. |
| Law of Conservation of Energy | The total energy in a system is always the same; energy can't be created or destroyed. |
| Friction | Force that resists sliding when two surfaces rub. |
