evolution Evolution is change in the heritable characteristics of biological populations over successive generations.
extinction the state or process of a species, family, or larger group being or becoming extinct.
endangered species a species of animal or plant that is seriously at risk of extinction.
equilibrium a state in which opposing forces or influences are balanced.
sustainability a state in which opposing forces or influences are balanced.
succession the change in either species composition, structure, or architecture of vegetation through time.
