What does a plant need to make food? Water, light, and carbon dioxide
What does a plant give off when it makes food? Sugar (glucose) and oxygen
What word means to make more of the same kind? Reproduce
What is the part of a seed that stores food for the embryo? Cotyledon
What effect does water have on seeds? Water makes seeds swell, which then causes the seed coat to split.
During the soaked seed activity, what was the difference between the dry lima beans and the soaked Lima beans? The dry Lima beans were smaller in mass. The soaked Lima beans were larger.
Why do seeds reproduce? Seeds reproduce to continue the life cycle.
Describe 4 or more changes you’ve seen in the bush beans that are growing in the classroom window. The bush beans were seedlings when we put them in the hydroponic containers in the window. They have grown taller. The cotyledons on most of the are falling off. Their leaves are much larger. More leaves are growing on each plant. The roots are longer.
